The media ran a story yesterday about a 9-year old’s letter to Santa (http://is.gd/bYID). Normally a fun and wonderful experience, right? Not for this little one. Her request was simple: Please make her relative stop touching her and her sister.
My heart broke for that little girl and her sister when I read the story. It seemed everyone in her life had failed to protect her, so she turned to Santa – a mythical figure she probably doesn’t believe in any longer – to save her. I cannot begin to understand the loneliness she must have felt to think that was her only option.
There is no justice in today’s legal system for someone like this. Jail isn’t enough, death is too easy, and the fires of Hell are too late. I wish that Hand of Justice was more than an idea for a book.

Finally, after a 3 month hiatus – roughly – I am back to writing. Life has been crumbling around me for a while and it was hard to find the energy to dedicate much to Hand of Justice. But, while life is certainly not back to normal yet, I feel the yearning in my fingers again. My mind has once again started to spin with ideas and character motivation.
I’m anxious to put my team of agents back on the track of predators. I’ll begin posting regular updates again, so follow along!

I’ve been working on the prologue for Hand of Justice over the last few days, trying to polish it a bit. I’ve finally got it close to where I want. Check out the new page at www.tsfranklin.com/prologue and then let me know what you think either in the comments, email me at tsfranklin@live.com, or tell me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/tsfranklin)!
Oh, as requested, I’ve also revised my site to make it more reader friendly. See, I listen, really I do! I’m still playing with the design as I learn WordPress, so you may see a few changes. Let me know if you have suggestions.
Until the next time,

I’ve been writing a little as the day job allows. Mostly just editing the first few chapters. I’ve also updated the book excerpt to include the new prologue and a longer excerpt of the first chapter! Read along and let me know what you think.

Though it will be slow in coming and less painful than I’d vote for, justice is in for the Groene family: http://tinyurl.com/5ofhqn.
Predators like Duncan are why I’m writing Hand of Justice. It’s a way for me to vent my frustrations at the justice system and explore what could be. A predator viciously attacks the innocent and then gets off by showing video of that depravity to jurors. Then smiles when the verdict is given to the judge? He does not deserve to live and the lethal injection will not come soon enough or inflict enough pain on Duncan’s miserable life.
Am I angry? Hell yes! Do I think justice was served? Sort of! Is it enough? Not even close!

I’ve been working on the storyline/synopsis for the last couple of days. It’s coming along really well and once I get it fine tuned, I’ll post it to my site — well at least the “back of the book” highlight! Unfortunately, that’s about all I’ve had time to work on since the day job is keeping me swamped. And to be honest, my mind is elsewhere. Ah well, the joys of trying to write a book while living another life!!
One other thing I’d be interested in hearing from my small, but growing group of followers/fellow writers. What sites do you turn to for inspiration. As I’ve mentioned before, I stumbled on Murderby4.blogspot.com and really like the info they’ve got on there. Any other sites or blogs you can’t miss?
Watch for the highlight reel to be coming soon! And be sure to join the Facebook group “Hand of Justice” for more info — sorry for the blatant plug
Until the next time,

I’ve been banging out pages without really following a storyline. I like the freedom that style offers, but I find myself unable to keep on track. So after researching some other author’s suggestions, I decided that I needed to at least take a day or two and build a storyline. BEST IDEA EVER!
To be honest, I’ve kept a few pages of notes on plot development and story ideas. But they were really jumbled together and I wasn’t all that impressed with the continuity and there was some confusion. By writing out the storyline, I’ve given my characters a higher purpose and the book a much better plot. I’ll begin to finesse the storyline and put some information up on the site so you know what I’m building toward!

I have finally worked up the nerve to release a small portion of Hand of Justice under the “Book Excerpts” section of my site. I’ve put myself out for everyone to see, and I’m anxious to hear back. Feel free to make as many suggestions as you like!
You’ll see hints as you read through the excerpt that I’ve chosen a very hard subject to write on. As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, there is a darkness that I have a challenge working through. I have only teased with this first section, but there is a lot of anger that will come further in the book. Anger against the system, anger against society, anger against ourselves.
As you read through this, I ask you: What could you do if something happened to your child?

I’ve spent a lot of time looking through aspiring authors’ blogs and web sites in my search for the best strategy in writing. Currently, I’m enjoying reading the blog of several contributing authors at http://murderby4.blogspot.com. Without a lot of time to review things since work is so busy, I really enjoy the suggestions and leads the site provides.
As far as writing, well, I took a vacation and now am paying for it while catching up at work. That means writing is on hold for just a few days until the fires are out and my desk is clutter free. But nothing can beat the joy of being out on the bike with only the voices in my head to keep me company. And Hand of Justice was at the front of my mind!
